Como 1907 is experiencing the best moment in its history: for the first time, it will play in the Champions League, with Cesc Fàbregas on the bench and Nico Paz as its star.

But while the club celebrates, it has also begun keeping a close eye on its own supporters. According to the new regulations, any season-ticket holder who misses more than three home matches without notifying the club or justifying the reason may lose their season ticket and the right to renew it.

The official reason: to avoid empty seats at the Sinigaglia, a small stadium with just 13.602 seats, and to ensure that tickets end up only in the hands of Como supporters themselves.

For a club that is only just getting a taste of Europe, the measure sounds like total control over its fan base. Protecting the stadium atmosphere or demanding too much from those who pay to watch their team?
