In the city of Helwan, Egypt, an elderly man who made a living selling magazines from the early hours of the morning was the victim of a robbery while resting at his workplace.
The images show how the man, exhausted after long hours of effort, fell asleep next to his products. It was then that an individual slowly approached the place and began to check the money the vendor kept in a drawer.
Taking advantage of the fact that the victim could not notice what was happening, the individual took several bills and continued looking for more cash among the elderly man’s belongings. Those passing through the area suspected nothing, believing it was someone trusted or a relative.
The video sparked outrage over the way the thief took advantage of a vulnerable person who was only trying to make a living. For many, it was not just a robbery, but one of the cruelest ways to abuse someone who could not defend themselves.
