Camila Ruth Castro was 18 years old and in a relationship that, according to her grandmother, was already broken on the inside.
“It was very toxic and he wouldn’t let her live”, Mónica said about Elías Barrionuevo, Camila’s 19-year-old boyfriend. On Tuesday night, at a house on Almagro Street at 2500, in the San Alberto neighborhood of Ituzaingó, a jealousy-fueled argument ended with a shot to the neck that the young woman could not survive. She died hours later at Bicentenario Hospital.
When Jorge Castro, her father, tried to defend her, he was also shot twice in the legs and hospitalized, out of danger. Barrionuevo fled the scene before the police arrived and, while the 4th Ituzaingó Police Station launched an operation to find him, remains on the run.
