In April 2026, Eminem shared a photo on social media holding the token that represents 18 years of sobriety, counted from 2008. He only wrote “XVIII” next to a medal emoji, wearing a T-shirt that paid homage to D-Nice’s 1991 album. No more words were needed: the comments quickly filled with affection. Questlove, Flavor Flav, and Big Sean —his regular collaborator— left him messages of encouragement, and even D-Nice joked while praising his outfit before congratulating him.
Behind that photo are years of songs in which Eminem himself recounted his battles with drugs and alcohol, and a 2025 documentary in which he opened up about them again. Today, in addition to being sober, he is a grandfather for the second time thanks to his daughter Alaina, who had her first child.
