Fabian Hürzeler, Brighton Hove Albion coach, added Christian Eckerlin, a former German footballer now turned MMA fighter, to his staff.
The reason? To avoid any kind of mistake, especially when defending set pieces, where he believes the martial artist’s experience will be very useful:
“I don’t want this club to always be known for being nice. At certain moments, you have to be very tough in individual duels. There are different ways to use your body and skills to win one-on-one duels, especially on set pieces, and an MMA fighter always faces this kind of duel”, the coach said.
