Before becoming Brazil’s executioner in the World Cup round of 16, Erling Haaland had another dream: to be a rapper. It was 2016 and the Norwegian, just 16 years old, was still playing for his country’s under-17 national team.
Alongside two teammates from that squad, Erik Botheim and Erik Tobias Sandberg, he formed a group called Flow Kingz. They recorded just one song, “Kygo jo”, inspired by the Norwegian DJ Kygo, and the video ended up racking up millions of views on YouTube.
The project never continued. Haaland himself acknowledged it years later, already as a Manchester City star: music was just fun among friends, football was always his thing. And after scoring two goals that eliminated Brazil, it became more than clear that he chose well.
