That same Saturday, two Mexican cities experienced opposing realities.
In Toluca, thousands celebrated the XXII LGBT Pride March. Less than 70 kilometers away, in Mexico City, another group walked from the Monument to the Revolution with a different message: that sexual orientation can change if you draw closer to God.
The march, the fifth of its kind, is led by Ana María Luna Rodríguez, who claims to have left an LGBT identity behind after converting to Christianity.
In previous editions, she went so far as to describe the movement as ‘the opposition to the LGBTQ+ movement.’ Doctors and human rights organizations warn that there is no scientific evidence supporting these changes, and that trying to force them can leave serious psychological scars.
In Mexico, since 2024, practices that seek to suppress sexual orientation, such as therapies or “treatments” are punishable by law. What do you think?
