Ricardo was 76 years old and never imagined that Wednesday would be his last with his daughter.

He and Catherine, 44, were in the Mirasol building, near the Imbanaco clinic in Cali, when the ground shook with a magnitude of 7.4. From that moment on, their family never stopped looking for them. They shared their photos on social media, called hospitals, searched shelters, and clung to any sign that might restore their hope.

This Wednesday, that wait ended amid the rubble. In Buga, their hometown, the news has hit hard: the López Arango family is beloved and well-known, and Ricardo was the brother of Gonzalo López Arango, a public figure from Tuluá. Father and daughter now join the more than 280 victims left by this earthquake in Colombia, while rescue teams continue searching the ruins for those who have yet to be found.
