In Ciudad Arce, La Libertad, a girl from the Complejo Educativo Cantón La Reforma lives with a motor disability that prevents her from standing without help. But that didn’t stop her, and it didn’t stop her dad either. Throughout the independence parade on September 15 in El Salvador, he walked right behind her, holding her firmly by the waist, step by step, in perfect rhythm with the school band.
There wasn’t a single stumble that he didn’t steady her through. She twirled her baton, coordinated every step, and wore her full costume, just like any other baton twirler, while her dad became invisible behind her smile.
