Ed Gillen sued Ozempic’s manufacturer. This father of four from Massachusetts attributes the permanent loss of vision in both eyes to the medication and accuses Novo Nordisk of failing to adequately warn about that risk. ⚖️

He began using it in 2024 to manage his diabetes. According to his account, in May 2025 he woke up with a small spot in one eye; afterward, he lost his sight due to nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION).

His lawsuit was filed in April 2026. Novo Nordisk said its internal research had not identified an increased risk. Gillen went to the Carroll Center for the Blind to learn skills that would help him regain his independence.
