FIFA president Gianni Infantino was asked about the possibility of expanding the number of participants for the next World Cup, and his response took aim at Italy.
“We can expand the World Cup to 228 teams, maybe then Italy will qualify. For now, let’s enjoy this first historic World Cup with 48 teams. Maybe Italy would qualify with 64 teams”.
