The workers were exhuming the remains of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus to move them before her beatification. Among the flowers covering the grave, someone stopped before a rose petal. There, marked with a clarity no one could explain, was the face of Christ.
It was no coincidence that she, of all people, should receive that sign. Her full name was Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, and her entire life revolved around that sorrowful face she contemplated in silence. She had promised that after her death she would let a shower of roses fall upon those who remembered her.
A century later, that petal remains the same reminder: that the deepest faith can sometimes fit into the smallest detail, and that heaven, when it wants to speak, does not need to shout.
