Roya Fox entered a supermarket in Finland and noticed something she had never seen in any country: pink shopping baskets mixed in with the regular ones. She recorded a video holding one and explained why it caught her attention so much.

It is not just about color. In several Finnish supermarket chains, that pink basket works as a silent signal: whoever carries it is single and open to conversation, with no need for a dating app or an icebreaker. All they have to do is pick one up at the entrance and let the rest happen between the aisles.

“You do not have to go to a bar or a club to meet someone; you can simply use a pink basket at the supermarket”, Roya said in her video, which has already racked up more than 15.5 million views and 710,000 likes. Thousands of users celebrated the idea, with some even promising to paint their own baskets to try their luck in their city.
