The fire destroyed 19 homes and with them the memories of a lifetime: photographer offers to help recreate their burned photo albums

Fire does not ask what matters before taking it all away.

In Stourbridge, several families watched as a fire consumed in minutes something no insurance can replace: photo albums, portraits of generations, images of moments that will never happen exactly the same way again. That is where Phil Loach comes in, a local photographer who decided that his camera could be part of the rebuilding process.

His offer is simple and generous: to recreate those lost photographs, without charging a cent, so that these families can once again have something to hold on to. He cannot bring back the original paper or the exact moment the fire erased, but he offers something almost equally valuable: bringing those people together in front of a lens once again, with the same intention of documenting that they were together. Sometimes the way to heal a loss is to create a new memory on top of the ashes.
