In February 2022, about 90 meters above Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado, five U.S. Army members stationed at Fort Carson observed something they had no words to describe. They called it a giant flying potato. It was the size of a large airplane, white, slightly translucent and bright, with an angular, asymmetrical shape made up of irregular panels. And it remained completely motionless in the blue morning sky.
The most disturbing thing was not the shape. It was the surface: the witnesses described articulated fish-scale-like structures that seemed to move in slow waves, as if the object were breathing, while the main body did not shift a single millimeter. The account was so detailed that an FBI forensic artist produced a sketch based on the statement of one of the witnesses, later interviewed in New York.
The file has just been declassified by the Trump administration in a batch of official UFO records, and the government analysis offers no definitive conclusion: it ranges from optical illusions to unusual reflections of sunlight, but no hypothesis closes the case.
