Harry Kane, captain of the England national team and Bayern Munich forward, has spent years using his armband as more than just an accessory. When young footballer Jake Daniels came out as gay, Kane did not stay silent: he wrote to him publicly, acknowledging the support of his family, his club and his captain, and delivered the statement that defines him: “Football should be welcoming to everyone”.

It was not an isolated gesture. At Euro 2021, against Germany, he had already worn the rainbow armband. For the 2022 Qatar World Cup, he planned to wear the OneLove armband, until FIFA banned it. Kane did not hide it: he said he felt disappointed at having to wear the official armband instead.

Married to Katie Goodland and the father of three children, Kane has built, match by match, a reputation that goes far beyond goals.
