Jacy Maranhão of Coritiba scored what he thought was his team’s second goal against Chapecoense and ran off to celebrate like crazy, dedicating it to his pregnant wife.
He jumped over an advertising fence and fell straight into the access tunnel to the stadium locker rooms. He disappeared from the pitch completely while his teammates kept celebrating without him.
Minutes later came the double blow: VAR disallowed the play for offside. Jacy finished the first half, but his ankle took its toll and he had to be substituted.
Coritiba won 2-1 anyway, and the craziest thing is that it is not the first time it has happened: in 2014, on that same pitch, another player fell into that same tunnel while celebrating.
