Ana Luiza de Oliveira Neves, 17, lived in Itapecerica da Serra, near São Paulo. On May 30, 2025, a delivery person left a small cake at her door along with a handwritten note: “For the prettiest girl I’ve seen”. She smiled, took a photo, and posted it on her social media.
An hour after eating the cake, Ana Luiza collapsed. She was rushed to the hospital, but her body was no longer responding. Doctors detected something no one expected: arsenic, a poison that works slowly and from within.

Police arrested a 17-year-old classmate. She confessed to putting the poison in the cake out of jealousy. She said she did not want to kill her, only to make her vomit and suffer a little. Ana Luiza died on June 1, 2025, two days after photographing the gift that would kill her.
