On May 8, 2026, Ross Falzone, a 76-year-old retired teacher, died after a man pushed him down the stairs at the 18th Street station in Chelsea.

The suspect was identified as Rhamell Burke, a 32-year-old former Broadway dancer who had performed in the musical “King Kong”.

According to police, the attack was completely unexpected and occurred only hours after Burke was discharged from a psychiatric evaluation.

Security cameras captured the moment of the shove, and the case sparked outrage over how the defendant had been released despite his recent history.Burke was arrested and appeared in court last Saturday.
