Former police officer Matthew Luckhurst was fired from the San Antonio Police Department, Texas, in November 2016, after an investigation found that he had left a sandwich with feces next to a homeless man.
The incident occurred months earlier and came to light after other officers reported him for mocking and telling the “joke” inside the station. Then-police chief William McManus described what happened as “disgusting” and said the officer’s conduct was unacceptable.
Although at first his lawyer said it was all a joke, Luckhurst himself later admitted to leaving the sandwich.
