Chad “N” had been barred from going near his own son for 3 years due to domestic violence. On August 4, he entered a house in the Antonio Cárdenas neighborhood in Saltillo to look for him anyway.
The argument with the family of his ex-partner Litzy ended in gunfire. They were hit by at least eight bullets, most directly to the head. Ana Laura (Litzy’s mother), her partner Emmanuel, and Laura Jaqueline died. Litzy survived, but remains hospitalized in critical condition. Chad got into a Chevrolet pickup truck with the three-year-old boy and headed toward the border.
Cameras spotted him in Piedras Negras. A blockade at the bridge to Eagle Pass, Texas, stopped him before he could cross. The sodium rhodizonate test came back positive for gunshot residue. One fact remains troubling: in the United States, he was prohibited from possessing weapons because of a prior domestic violence complaint, yet he still obtained one to kill in Mexico.
