A father in Texas, United States, was at the center of a case that shocked the country in June 2012, after discovering that a man was sexually abusing his just five-year-old daughter.
The man heard the little girl’s screams and ran toward a secluded area of the family ranch. There he found Jesús Mora Flores, 47 years old, assaulting the girl.

The father pulled him away from his daughter and began beating him with his bare hands. The attack caused serious injuries to his head and neck.
When he realized Flores could die, he desperately called 911 to request an ambulance. “This man is going to die! I don’t know what to do!”, he exclaimed during the call.
Flores died at the scene. Investigators confirmed that the girl had been sexually assaulted and examined whether the father had acted to protect her.

Ultimately, a grand jury decided not to file charges against him, considering the circumstances in which the death occurred.
The father’s identity remained confidential to protect his daughter.
