Ricardo Lara, Daniela Perdomo, Emilia Catoni, and Sofía Rodríguez are still high school students, but they have already earned international recognition.

All four are in their final year at Liceo Bicentenario Simón Bolívar, a high school in Las Condes, Santiago, Chile, and won second place at the 3rd Science Bits Online Science Fair: STEM Challenge, where school projects from 14 countries competed. 🧪🇨🇱

Their idea? DermaPatch, a project that proposes developing a transdermal or buccal patch to deliver vitamin D as an alternative to traditional supplements. The initiative was born at InnovaSB, their school’s innovation and entrepreneurship academy, and received guidance from the University of Chile.

For now, DermaPatch is still a school science project in development, but its international recognition shows that an idea conceived by students can go much further than they imagined.
