Vozinha’s story has become one of the most talked-about of the 2026 World Cup. The Cape Verde goalkeeper, who was a standout in the draw against Spain, spends every summer teaching volleyball to children in his country.

In fact, the Reis Institute announced that this year he will not be able to work as a teacher because he will be representing his national team at the World Cup.

At 40 years old, Vozinha surprised everyone with his spectacular physical condition. Many attribute part of it to his work as a volleyball instructor during the holidays, an activity he combines with his career as a professional footballer.

His performance against Spain made him one of the revelations of the tournament. Fame arrived all at once. After his standout showing at the World Cup, millions of people began following his story on social media.

There were even rumors of interest from Portuguese clubs. An example that it is never too late to experience the best moment of a sporting career.
