In December 2024, he received a diagnosis that changed everything: stage 4 Hodgkin lymphoma. He began an experimental chemotherapy treatment, the first of its kind to be used in Canada. No one knew for certain how his body would respond.

On February 24, 2026, Chalk announced on Facebook that he is in complete remission. “It has been a very hard year, with many challenges”, he wrote, thanking his family, his friends, and his followers for supporting him along the way. The treatment worked so well that doctors are already planning to use it on other patients. With more than 1,500 animated productions in his career, Chalk is now returning to the recording studios and preparing to reunite with his fans at conventions.
