For three days, citizens and rescue teams searched the wooded area for him, until the Belgian Malinois reappeared on his own, walking toward the Military Engineers School as if nothing had happened. That story made him known in Colombia before anyone imagined what would come next.
Five years later, the same dog who once needed to be found travels from Bogotá to Cali alongside Dastan, another Malinois from the Fire Department’s K9 team, to enter the rubble left by the August 10 earthquake. Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán shared an image of him working in the city: he is no longer the one waiting to be found. Now he is the one who does not stop until he finds someone alive beneath the concrete.
