Ricardo Héctor Prim, owner of a bookstore in Puerto Madryn, Chubut, learned on Sunday, June 15, 2026 that his son Gaspar, the 23-year-old YouTuber known as Gaspi, had died when two helicopters collided in midair over Avenida das Américas, in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. The aircraft he was traveling in exploded when it hit the ground. Five other people also died in the same accident: American singer Oliver Tree, Argentine director Lucas Vignale, Brazilian producer Lucas Frota, and pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac.
Two days later, while waiting for the Brazilian courts to release his son’s body so it could be repatriated, Ricardo spoke with the newspaper Clarín and was direct: “For me, it was an attack”. He also denied that Gaspi had used drugs and described him as a perfectionist young man, committed to his audience, at the best moment of his career.
Brazilian authorities have not yet established the causes of the accident and are keeping the investigation open. No official body has supported or ruled out the father’s hypothesis, whose statement sparked debate on social media about what really happened in the skies over Rio de Janeiro that Sunday.
