Matt Damon suspected nothing. He was filming ‘Monuments Men’ and noticed, week after week, that his clothes were getting tighter. No changes to his diet, no different training. Just the uncomfortable feeling that he was gaining weight for no apparent reason.
The real explanation came years later, and it had a first and last name: George Clooney. The actor had convinced the wardrobe team to gradually shrink Damon’s clothes every week, so Damon would believe he was gaining weight uncontrollably. When journalist Chris Wallace asked him directly whether it was true, Damon didn’t hesitate: ‘Of course it’s true. He definitely did it’.

The most curious part wasn’t the prank itself, but the victim’s complete resignation. Damon admitted that he never tried to get revenge because he knew perfectly well how committed Clooney was to his pranks: ‘I know the retaliation would be very severe’ 😅. Another sign that on Clooney’s set, no one is safe from ending up doubting even their own reflection.
