Michael Douglas recalled in his new memoir an episode from 1990 that still embarrasses him.
At a post-Golden Globes party, the actor attended with his son Cameron, 13, and saw Julia Roberts with her arm around the teenager. Douglas, who admits he was quite drunk, interpreted the scene in a way he now considers mistaken.

“Get your hands off my son, take that Golden Globe and shove it where the sun don’t shine”, he told the actress, who had just won her first award for Steel Magnolias. The next day, his producing partner warned him that he had crossed a line with one of Hollywood’s most important young stars.

Douglas apologized to Roberts and Sutherland and sent her flowers, but admits that his friendship with the actress was never the same again.
