Five days. That was how long Giselle, a Venezuelan dog, spent trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building in Residencial El Palmar, Caraballeda, La Guaira state, after the double earthquake that shook Venezuela on June 24.
A brigade of Salvadoran rescuers worked for five straight hours to reach her. When they finally pulled her out, Giselle didn’t run or hide: she threw herself into covering the man who had saved her with kisses, as if she understood exactly what had just happened.
Afterward, they gave her fluids and specialists examined her to make sure she was okay. President Nayib Bukele shared the video and asked for help finding her owner. Amid so much destruction, Giselle reminds you that gratitude needs no words.
