The story seems straight out of a movie, but it really happened in Mexico.

In 2016, Yadira Guillermo found herself in a desperate situation after a criminal group kidnapped her husband, engineer Isauro de Paz Duque, in Guerrero.

Faced with the lack of a response that would allow her to get him back, Yadira made an extreme decision: together with local residents and a self-defense group, she detained the criminal leader’s mother.

She later appeared in a video with a direct message for the drug trafficker known as “El Tequilero”:

“In exchange for my husband’s life, I will hand over his mother. But I want him safe and sound”.

The situation caused enormous tension in San Miguel Totolapan and ultimately forced authorities to intervene to negotiate the exchange.

Finally, Isauro was released and the criminal’s mother was handed over, while other people being held also regained their freedom.

The story resurfaced years later and left a difficult question to answer:

How far would you go to get back the person you love?
