Bennett Kaspar-Williams stopped taking testosterone so he could become pregnant. Nothing more.
That was how simple the decision was that led him to conceive his son Hudson naturally, without any medical treatment, just before the world went into lockdown. He had a full beard, a flat chest after surgery he paid for himself, and an identity document that said ‘man’ in every box. None of that mattered at the hospital.
Throughout the entire labor, the nurses called him ‘mom,’ ‘mother,’ or ‘ma’am,’ no matter how many times he corrected them. Bennett says that was the only part of his entire pregnancy that caused him genuine distress. Not carrying his child, not the hormones, not his changing body, but the medical staff refusing to see him as what he is. Today he says that nothing feels more powerful than being able to say he is a father who created his own child.
