Michael Alves said he survived two cardiac arrests in Bangkok. The young Brazilian man was backpacking through Thailand when he started feeling unwell at a hotel: he had severe chest pain, was short of breath, and felt weak. He managed to call his parents to say goodbye; a motorcycle taxi took him to the hospital.

From there, Alves said he experienced an encounter with God and felt he was standing at the gates of heaven. He said Jesus asked him to return because his mission was not yet over.
The supernatural experience he describes is his personal testimony and cannot be independently verified, but his hospitalization and account of surviving two cardiac arrests were reported by Brazilian media.
