Omolara Olurin was 59 when she welcomed her twins with her husband, after 17 years of marriage.

Their arrival crowns a long and complicated journey to motherhood, which she shared on TikTok with images of her pregnancy, her stay in the hospital, and her first meeting with her babies.

There were periods when she could barely keep food down and days when hope seemed far away. Looking back on the journey, she wrote: “God made what seemed impossible possible. There was a time when I couldn’t eat. Now, I can’t stop smiling”.

She also thanked the NHS team who supported her before, during, and after the birth.

The change also came in her name: she used to be called “Aunty Bunmi”; now she is “Iya Ibeji”, a Yoruba expression meaning “mother of twins”.
