During that time, Harrison Ford felt so bad that he practically disappeared from his own life.

The actor recalled one of the most difficult periods of his youth, when he was studying at Ripon College in Wisconsin. According to him, he was “deeply depressed” and was not doing well either socially or psychologically.

He spent much of his time shut away in his room, skipped classes, and barely found reasons to get up. His routine became as simple as picking up the phone to order food and immediately returning to bed. “I would get out of bed, pick up the phone, order a pizza, and go back to bed until it arrived”, he recalled.

His isolation also began to affect his studies, and his grades dropped considerably. In the middle of that period, he ended up enrolling in a theater class almost by accident, without imagining that there he would find something that had eluded him until then: a space where he could connect with other people and feel part of a group.

Acting gradually began to occupy a different place in his life and ultimately became the path he would follow for the decades that followed.

Today, it is hard to associate that image with Harrison Ford, but behind the man that millions would later know as Han Solo and Indiana Jones was also a young man who went through a period when simply getting out of bed could already feel like too much.
