Erling Haaland is 25 years old, plays for Manchester City, and is one of the most sought-after figures in world football. But there was one name he didn’t recognize, neither by face nor by fame: Tom Holland.
It all started at this year’s Monaco Grand Prix, when the British actor crossed paths with the Norwegian and, excited, sent him a message after the event. There was never a reply. Holland told the story on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon, laughing as he admitted that he had been left on read.
The story made its way to Norway, where Haaland was invited onto the show “A Laget” and confessed the truth: he had no idea who Tom Holland was when he wrote to him, so he simply ignored him. When he found out it was the actor who plays Spider-Man, he took it in stride and was quick to respond publicly, accepting the dinner he still owed him and asking Holland to choose the restaurant.
