Haaland did not become a goal-scoring machine overnight. He was born in Leeds, England, while his father Alf-Inge was playing in the Premier League, but a few years later he returned with his family to Bryne, Norway, where he began his development away from the noise of the major leagues.
From childhood, he went through Bryne’s academy, made his professional football debut at a very young age, and then continued to develop at Molde before making the move to Salzburg and Dortmund.
In 2019, at just 18 years old, he scored nine goals in a single Under-20 World Cup match against Honduras, an early sign of what was to come. Years later, at Manchester City, he broke records with 36 goals in a Premier League season and 52 in all competitions.
