Jeremías Aaron Domínguez is 18 years old and already had a serious conviction on his record: he had killed Omar Quispe Tecse, a 38-year-old app driver, in January 2025 in Isidro Casanova. That is why he was under house arrest, with an electronic ankle monitor that was supposed to keep him under control 24 hours a day.
That did not stop him from leaving his home last Friday. Together with a 17-year-old accomplice, he stole a 54-year-old woman’s Fiat Argo in the Charrúa and Balbastro area of La Matanza. Buenos Aires Provincial Police chased them for a few blocks and intercepted them. Only when an officer lifted his trouser cuff during the search did the ankle monitor appear—the one no one had detected in time.
Domínguez already had prior records for aggravated robbery in 2023 and twice more in 2024. He is now at the disposal of UFI N°6, along with his minor accomplice. The question that remains: what good is a monitoring device if no one notices when someone breaks its rules?
