Halle Berry didn’t expect an argument over a video game to end up before a judge.
According to court documents, a confrontation took place at her home on September 26 involving Maceo, her 12-year-old son. Her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, claims the actress pushed and strangled the boy, and that the child called him asking him to come pick him up.

Based on that account, Martinez requested sole custody, and on October 1, a Los Angeles judge granted a temporary restraining order.

Berry must stay 100 yards away from Martinez and may only see Maceo during the times set by the court, although she is not barred from contact. Her attorney, Marina Beck, called the request “completely unfounded and deliberately misleading”, and the actress accuses her ex-husband of interfering with the child’s upbringing.

Nothing Martínez has said has been proven in court. There will be another hearing on October 16, when it will become clear whether the order remains in effect and how the case is resolved.
