In 1949, Helen looked at the world from the entrance of her father’s igloo; today, at 95 years old, her smile remains a refuge of wisdom. ❄️👵 How did the world change for her?

In 1949, photographer Richard Harrington captured an image that would become a symbol of the Arctic: a young Inuit woman peeking curiously from the entrance of an igloo.
Helen was born and raised in the Arviat area, Nunavut (Canada), at a time when survival depended on hunting, fishing, and building snow shelters. ❄️
Today, almost a century later, Helen lives in a modern house, uses technology, and sees her grandchildren succeed in the contemporary world.
Much of Helen’s current fame is due to her grandson, Jordan Konek, a renowned Inuit journalist who has proudly shared his grandmother’s journey.

For Helen, reaching 95 years old is not just a matter of luck, but of a deep connection to her roots and her land. 👵❤️
