On Sunday, August 16, Hayden Panettiere was found unconscious in an apartment in Greenville, South Carolina. She was 36 years old. First responders attempted to revive her with CPR and advanced cardiac life support measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The day before, she had traveled from Los Angeles with Brian Hickerson, her on-again, off-again partner. The autopsy was completed the following Monday and, according to the initial results, no signs of trauma were found. However, according to sources cited by TMZ, Narcan, the medication that reverses opioid overdoses, was in the apartment where she died.
This Tuesday, the county coroner’s office notified Alan Panettiere, Hayden’s father, that his daughter’s body is ready to be released. The family has not yet chosen a funeral home, so the remains remain in official custody. The toxicology results, which will determine the exact cause of death, may take between 8 and 12 weeks.
