Taylor Winters knew from childhood that he wanted to be a father. What he never imagined was experiencing it while pregnant.

At 42, this transgender man, who was raised in Transylvania, Romania, and his wife Chloe are expecting their first child, a girl who will arrive in the new year. They conceived her using the eggs Taylor froze in 2017, just before starting testosterone, and Chloe’s uterus. Chloe lives with him in Watford, United Kingdom. The sperm came from a donor they were matched with in 2022.

The journey wasn’t straightforward. Their first round of IVF, in March 2026, didn’t work. They were devastated, but decided to try again without waiting. On the day of the test for the second round, in May, they woke up at 5 in the morning because they couldn’t sleep. Chloe sums it up: “We woke up at 5 a.m. and said: let’s just do it”. This time, the result was positive.

And the story doesn’t end there: later on, they plan to use Chloe’s eggs so that each of them can have a biological child. “Having our own biological children felt like the right thing to do, as it does for many couples. We’re no different”, she says.
