Argentine boxer Ayrton Giménez was at the center of a shocking scene in La Plata, Argentina, during a fight for the WBO super featherweight title. His rival struck him on the back of the head from behind.
His rival Juan Cruz Uncos hit him illegally several times on the back of the head and ended up landing a blow when he was already on the canvas, which caused his immediate disqualification.
“He hits me treacherously, like a coward. Like what he is, an outrageous coward, him and the coach. Terribly rude people. After what happened they kept making gestures in the ring”, Giménez charged.
He also said that the impact could have ended much worse, because he received the blow while defenseless on the floor. Despite the dramatic ending, Giménez remained undefeated and kept the international belt after his rival’s disqualification.
