Travis Mills lost all four limbs in Afghanistan.
The day after surgery, when he told his wife Kelsey that he was stable, he asked her to leave and explained that she hadn’t signed up to live through that. He offered her Chloe, the house, the money, and the cars; he said he didn’t want to become a burden and promised to provide all the financial support he could.
Kelsey replied that she had considered that option, but added that she wanted the front-row spot in the parking lot for people with disabilities. Mills said she stayed and later clarified that that wasn’t how it worked. After that joke came the line that closed the exchange: “I’ll be here for you”.
