He underwent surgery on July 7, the very same day Argentina beat Egypt in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup. A coincidence that his body, drugged by anesthesia, decided to celebrate on its own.
As soon as he came to on the gurney, with no filter or embarrassment, he belted out “The fourth star”, the spontaneous anthem that even the national team players adopted in the locker room. He laughs, sings off-key, but does not stop. And when someone tries to tempt him with a Real Madrid song, his refusal is immediate and emphatic: not even asleep would he betray his colors.
He himself uploaded the video to TikTok and later said that he remembers absolutely nothing about that moment. He had to see himself on screen to believe it, like everyone who is now laughing along with him.
