He ordered pizza every night for 10 years. When he stopped for 11 days, Domino’s went looking for him — and saved his life

Kirk Alexander, 48 years old, lived alone in Salem, Oregon, and had a routine that never failed: ordering pizza from Domino’s almost every night. For a decade, his order arrived so regularly that the employees came to know his name, his address, and even his preferences.

What happens when a person becomes an invisible part of someone else’s work rhythm? Their absence is felt like a noise that suddenly stops being heard. In 2016, manager Sarah Fuller noticed that Kirk’s order hadn’t come in for 11 days. That had never happened. Something told her it wasn’t just a simple pause.

She knocked on the door of his house and, when she got no response, called 911. Paramedics found Kirk inside, suffering a serious medical emergency. What saved his life was not technology or a sophisticated monitoring system: it was that someone paid attention to the everyday. You, too, are someone’s invisible routine.
