Mike Lovely had a plan up his sleeve.
He and Vanessa Petrasko had been together since 2016, and that day in Pittsburgh they were only going to do something simple: adopt a kitten from the Animal Friends shelter. They found her right away. Her name was Molly, and she had the curious look of someone who has no idea she is about to change two people’s lives all at once.
With Corrie’s help, from the shelter staff, Mike arranged everything in secret. In the middle of the adoption paperwork, he pulled out the ring and proposed to Vanessa, with Molly as the silent witness to the scene. Vanessa said yes, and hours later shared a photo of the moment on Facebook: a new kitten in the family and an engagement she never saw coming when they left home that morning.
