Ojo Eghosa Kingsley, a man from Nigeria, received more than a million dollars in his bank account due to a system error by First Bank of Nigeria, and instead of reporting the glitch, he decided to keep the money and spend it on transfers to relatives and on his own interests, a decision that led him to face justice when the institution discovered the irregularity and demanded the return of the funds.

By the time the bank contacted him, Kingsley had already spent most of the money, and upon realizing that he had no way to return it, he made an unusual decision: he preferred to serve one year in prison rather than take on the million-dollar debt.

The debate on social media was immediate, because while some users defended Kingsley by arguing that anyone would have fallen into the same temptation, others pointed out that from the moment he knew the money was not his, he already knew how it would all end.
