In a case that has sparked outrage in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, a 24-year-old woman named Brooke McDaniel was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal abuse.
Authorities discovered that her son, a little boy of just 22 months, had a tattoo on his arm made with a professional machine at home.

What has most outraged public opinion is not only the act itself, but also the contradictory explanations McDaniel gave to officers.
At first, she claimed that the child simply “got in the way” while she was tattooing herself.
However, she later changed her story, claiming that the little boy “wanted it”, suggesting that the baby, less than two years old, had consented to being tattooed.
The child is currently in the protective custody of the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, while McDaniel remains in jail awaiting trial.
