Shridhar Chillal, an Indian man who is currently 88 years old, spent more than six decades without cutting the nails on one hand and ended up becoming one of the most astonishing record holders in the world. It all began when he was just 14 years old and decided to let his nails grow, keeping the promise for 66 years until reaching a total length of more than 9 meters.

Although the record made him internationally famous, it also caused him serious physical problems. Over time he lost mobility in his hand, his fingers became deformed, and even sleeping became a difficult task because of the weight of the nails.

In 2018 he decided to cut them in a public ceremony in New York. Today, the enormous nails are on display at a Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum.
